Hey there, I’m João, ocean lover, and adventure seeker from the south coast of Portugal. Growing up by the beach, I developed a strong connection with the ocean from a young age. The sea has always been more than just a backdrop, it shaped my lifestyle.
My interest in the arts led me to study graphic design and visual communication. I was drawn to the way visuals can evoke emotions and communicate ideas. A skillset that would later become essential in my journey into photography.
At 25, I took a leap of faith and set off on a solo trip through Southeast Asia, seeking new perspectives and experiences. It was during this time that I picked up my first camera. What started as curiosity quickly turned into a passion. I became fascinated by the way photography could capture the spirit of a place or a fleeting moment, and I dedicated all my spare time to learning and experimenting with the craft.
Over the years, photography has become both a creative outlet and a way of life. I’m especially drawn to water photography, being immersed in the ocean, chasing waves and light. Nothing I’ve ever experienced in photography comes close to the exhilaration of shooting from the water. I love going on surf trips and translating the energy, freedom, and joy of those moments into images that tell a story.
